Tradition and modernity - it is hard to find these two opposites as harmoniously combined as they are in the romantic mountain town of Zell am See. Hence, it is no coincidence that the Ferry Porsche Congress Center (FPCC), one of the most innovative convention buildings of the region, has been erected against this beautiful Alpine panorama. Due to its aesthetic singularity, the center sets new trends in the popular holiday town. Already in the year of its inauguration it hosted the Salzburger AlpenAdvent and presented itself as the perfect venue to stage new traditions.

The new event highlight in the Advent time was so popular with its guests in December 2007 that the decision to repeat it came easily. The plans are that from now on this contemplative period is going to be celebrated in the FPCC for the years to come. But what is so special about this event? A short review of the AlpenAdvent 2007 gives an idea why we can hardly wait for this year's event to come.

A large number of stars and starlets made sure that the guests enjoyed a breathtaking and sensual celebration. Gerhart Lippert, the popular TV actor known for his role as the physician in the TV series 'Der Bergdoktor', indulged in his passion for the stage. He added contemplative and humorous Advent stories to the traditional songs of the folk musicians on the programme of the AlpenAdvent. The performance of the beautiful chanteuse Eva Lind guaranteed to send some shivers down the spines of the visitors of the FPCC. In the dimmed light of the auditorium of Zell, she evoked the grandeur and glamour of big international stages. The choirboys of 'Wiltener Sängerknaben' joined in with the classic singer and made that Christmas concert an unforgettable experience.

At the Salzburger AlpenAdvent 2008, some famous names and their impressive sound volume are going to create atmosphere and the right Christmas mood again. The roles of the Raffaelesque cherubim are being bestowed on the young singers of the Tölz Boys' Choir. Ivan Rebroff, an old hand in the music business, is bringing the flair of the Siberian tundra to the stage of the FPCC. Actually, the former member of the Black Sea Cossacks Choirs looks quite like Father Frost from the Russian fairy tale who brings children their Christmas presents on 31st December. With his brilliant ensemble of Russian musicians, the star from the musical 'Anatevka' is sure to enthral his audience in Zell. And the young artists of the local music school are taking the guests on a journey to the magic world of their traditional Advent play.

The Tölz Boys' Choir with its success story of 50 years and legendary Ivan Rebroff guarantee for a lot of tradition which will find its perfect venue at the state-of-the-art Ferry Porsche Congress Center. We are convinced that the peaceful and cosy atmosphere will make the visitors of the Salzburger AlpenAdvent want to come back to the romantic Alpine town of Zell am See-Kaprun the following years as well.
