An SEO worker is a Search Engine Optimization worker, whose job is basically to work on the internet establishing links in order to get their company to the highest rank in a given search engine, for example; Google.
Search Engine Optimization specialists use all sorts of tools and techniques to enable this to happen and it is a very complicated process which when you do work one day, can not come in to effect until perhaps six months afterwards. They do things like;
Write articles for websites and post them with a link on the bottom diverting people back to their website
Write press releases and put a link on the bottom to divert people back to their site
Comment on blogs and forums and submit a link back to their website
Monitor statistics of the traffic that goes to their website and what is converted in to sales
Overall, Search engine optimisation specialists are extremely important within a marketing department in a business, and even though people often think just the name is what gets you to the top of a search engine, this is not true. It takes months and months of hard work and link building and directory submitting and articles submitting and so on.
Jobs in SEO are hard to come by, but once in a company, you can only grow, and if you are your own boss, the world is your oyster. Many companies even ask for advice and just outsource these questions to other SEO specialists within another company, as it is such a complex role.
SEO specialists are usually of a younger age and so can get to the top of the game very quickly as they are young, have the vast experience, and know a lot more than perhaps a highly intelligent fifty year old, when it comes to computers, the internet and understanding search engine optimization, a term that is very confusing for those adults that just use computers for emailing and watching films on, SEO is a whole new realm.
