Homemade Mint-Chocolate Chip Ice Cream in a Freezer

2 teaspoons peppermint extract
3 drops green food coloring
2 tablespoons water
2 cups whipping cream, whipped (don’t add sugar when whipping)
½ cup semisweet mini chocolate chips
In large bowl, combine condensed milk, pepper-mint extract, food color and water. Blend well. Color should be dark; it will lighten with whipped cream. Gradually fold in whipped cream. Add chocolate chips and mix well. Pour into a 9-by-5-inch freezer container. Cover and freeze at least 6 hours. Yields 6 to 8 servings.
Homemade Ice Cream in a Bag
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup half-and-half
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup coarse salt (the bigger the granules, the better)
Ice cubes (enough to fill gallon-size bag halfway)
1 pint-size sealable bag
1 gallon-size sealable bag
Combine sugar, half-and half and vanilla extract inside pint-size bag, and seal tightly. Place salt and ice in gallon-size bag; shake bag until mixture hardens (about 5 minutes). During shaking, children might want to wear gloves, because bag is extremely cold. Feel small bag to determine when it’s done. It should be consistency of soft-serve ice cream. Take smaller bag out of larger one, add mix-ins, and eat ice cream right out of bag. Yield 1 serving.
