Since hip hop rapper 50 Cent announced he would stop making solo albums if hip hop rap artist Kanye West out sold him in their little album sales war, many in the hip hop community thought that 50 would be finally doing something good for hip hop – but that may be just another shallow statement made by 50.
It seems 50 is coming up with excuses for Kanye West’s album outselling his; he has now accused Def Jams of "rigging" sales of West’s album ‘Graduation’.
With what many believe started as a publicity stunt, this album ‘war’ seems to have put Curtis in a serious situation. Will he retire if the hip hop community supports Kayne’s album over his?
Adding to all this is this statement from a label rep for 50 Cent sent to MTV UK:
“50 Cent is very sad to confirm that due to a last minute, unforeseen and unanticipated change in his schedule, he will have to postpone his European Promotion Trip from Sept. 18 - 25.”
Well if 50 is going to keep it real – as hip hop is suppose to be – then after the official sales are announced Wednesday he will bow out gracefully and at last do what many in hip hop have been waiting for.
Even if ya don’t like Kanye West – buy his album ‘Graduation’ on Def Jams in stores now, just to help get real hip hop back and to see if 50 is mere talk or if he will do the right thing.
