PR is an exciting, fast, innovative and highly creative sector to be involved in. One of the greatest parts of a career in PR would be the varied jobs and challenges that you will be faced with; it is a career that will certainly keep you on your toes with little chance of boredom.

Of course, as well as being exciting it also is a job that has tight deadlines and there is a small margin of error here, which can lead to people finding this career stressful. However, if you are fully committed and willing to work hard enough then meeting deadlines will become second nature as you will be caught up in the excitement of arranging and creating events for clients. This is where your creative mind can really go to work, PR is a very creative area and allows people to try original ideas and tap into their creative nature, however it is also important to make sure the client gets exactly what they want.

Also, with tight deadlines and hard work come suitable monetary rewards, however salaries can vary considerably depending on experience and being specialised in certain areas. Obviously someone with vast amounts of experience will earn a lot more than a newly graduated worker.

Working hours in this sector can be long and irregular. It is also important to build up relationships with customers so networking and socialising are key in this field.

More on the excitement, this is the type of job that involves networking with a lot of people and can sometimes lead to your path crossing with important organisations and even people from the ‘celebrity’ community. Of course, this depends on how well you do and experience makes up a lot of what sets you apart from the rest. In this career you are really judged by your work and those who excel early in their career are likely to do well. All this requires hard work and unquestioned effort, this is an industry that requires everything to be done right and on time and if things go well then more clients will arrive and more contracts can be gained.

If you feel you are creative and can handle the pressures of tight deadlines and irregular hours then this may be the career for you.
