So, you have the relevant and required qualifications to enter a career in advertising and PR. This is an exciting industry that is full or opportunities and can lead to working with a range of organisations and people.
PR professionals can work ‘in-house’ or for a consultancy/agency. Some agencies specialise in one sector for example healthcare, I.T, consumer etc.
The activities that someone working in PR include interacting with the Media, writing and editing, planning, research and evaluation work and event management. In a career in PR you would end up working with high profile organisations or personal which would lead to you being required to spend quite a bit of time addressing the media on behalf of the client or organisation. In terms of planning, these events depend on your client and can range from parties to meetings, all depending on what your client wants. It is important to make sure that the client gets what he or she wants or the organisation gets what they want and events done well can lead to more business for yourself.
As well as the activities mentioned above, lobbying is also a part of the PR sector. Lobbying can require working in-house for a charity or working with a specialist consultancy.
