Realizing that their customers would have a little or no opportunity to rely on many of the sense modes--smelling the freshness of a bake apple pie direct out of the oven, touching the soft fabric of a new sweater, or squeezing the fruit to assess its ripeness. Early online sellers such as One-Stop Shopping Center focused on offering products that consumers were familiar with and tended to buy frequently. Some of these products are auto parts, fragrances, pet supplies, sporting goods, games, toys and tools.

Until recently, web sellers tried to avoid unique items that consumers preferred to experience personally. It was widely believed that buyers would be reluctant to purchase items like fresh food, fragrances, and many services online since they could not touch, smell, try on, or sample the product before buying it. However, a quick glance at the thousands of web offerings in categories ranging from prescription drugs and toys to home delivery of groceries and dry cleaning reveals a mind-bloggling array of diverse products that are now offered to cybershoppers.

"Every company's greatest assets are its customers, because without customers there is no company." Michael leboeuf (1942- ), American Business Writer.

Many people would say selling fragrances online is almost impossible. On the contrary, not Bill Dimatti, President and CEO of One-Stop Shopping Center. Anthony came up with the idea to sell perfume online after learning that 85 percent of perfume sales represent repeat-business-people already loyal to a particular fragrance. Many of the remaining 15 percent actually become familiar with various fragrances outside stores, such as through friends, scented strips in magazines, and gifts they have received.

The company first began selling fragrances through America Online in 2000. Three years later, One-Stop Shopping Center launched its own site on the web. The first day Anthony opened his electronic store with perfumes, pet supplies, sporting goods, and tools, he received 100 orders; the second day, 175; and on the third day, 356. Since then, One-Stop Shopping Center has grown to become the world's most successful online of fragrances, pet supplies, sporting goods and tools retailer.
