The term ‘new evidence’ is again in the news regarding the murder of NY hip hop legend Notorious B.I.G..

U.S. District Court Judge Florence-Marie Cooper in a ruling Friday said that the civil lawsuit being brought by the family of the late hip hop legend could be amended because of newly discovered evidence.

After 11 years and much investigation it is hard to believe there is something new that police officials don’t already know about.

Even the attorney for the city of Los Angeles, Thomas Reichert, said Monday that this new evidence was "old wine, new bottles."

The same ‘new evidence’ story is being put forth in the murder of hip hop icon Tupac Shakur, 11 years after his assassination in Las Vegas.

And it seems the same names like Death Row Records CEO Marion ‘Suge’ Knight, ex-police officer Rafael Perez, head of Wright Way Security Reggie Wright, ex-police officer David Mack and others are being tossed out in both cases.

Theories and hip hop ‘hood legends’ have been rampant since the assassination of Tupac Shakur and the assassination of Notorious B.I.G.; two of the cultures biggest name rap artists.

If there were self proclaimed FBI agents who had infiltrated the Death Row Records camp, as Kevin Hackie has said he was, then you would think that the government and police officials know what was going on inside Death Row Records at that time.

All this talk about ‘new evidence’ seems to be a smoke screen to gain financially by those who keep saying that there is all this ‘new evidence’. Police officials I have spoke to say if there is real evidence it is looked into and acted on. It does not take a court order to have police look into ‘new evidence’, especially in on going cases.

If Kevin Hackie was a FBI agent, why did the FBI close its investigation into the 1997 murder of the hip hop star Notorious B.I.G., abandoning the theory that a rogue police officer may have been involved in the slaying? Wouldn’t you think the top law officials in the country looked at every possible angle in this case or at least read the reports from their field agents?

In 2005 Louis J. Caprino Jr., acting head of the criminal division of the FBI's Los Angeles office, said in the Los Angeles Times; the Notorious B.I.G case was closed after federal prosecutors reviewed the evidence and concluded there was no basis for prosecution.

The FBI can investigate and find out the names of those terrorist who where responsible for the World Trade Center attack, even though the terrorist where vaporized in the attack, but they give up on the Biggie case? They closed it and moved on for a reason, and that reason according to Louis J. Caprino Jr. was there was no basis for prosecution.

All this just does not seem to make sense.

The Tupac assassination and the Biggie assassination are a big part of hip hop history, no one can deny that. The murders of two of hip hop biggest and well loved artists are dark days in the cultures history and most like will remain unsolved unless this ‘witch hunt’ being brought against hip hop is successful in convicting someone anyone on hear say evidence.

The story will continue along with the ‘witch hunt’ and all that really can be said is R.I.P. Tupac and Biggie – and lets not forget the others from the hip hop community we have lost to senseless violence.

There are many men and women in jails across this nation who do not belong there, they were sent there with no real evidence against them, it happened to Tupac (2Pac) in his alleged rape case that landed him in jail. 2Pac received 1 ½ to 4 ½ years on hear say. People should not be so quick to judge or accuse people of illegal acts unless there is real tangible proof of wrong doing. So lets wait and see what this 'new evidence' really is.
