When we lost Windows password, Microsoft Windows OS is so kindly provide us three useful options to reset password. However, does these methods are really helpful to people who just forgot their login password.

1. Using another available administrator account

Pro: This method, you do only to reset windows XP password by using another available administrator account. When you installed Windows XP, you had to set a password for the Administrator account. If you still know this password, you can boot up in Safe Mode by pressing F8 when your computer starts and log on with the Administrator account.

Cons: Whenever you reset the password for a lost Windows password user with another admin account, the lost password user account will no longer be able to access files that have been encrypted with Encrypted File System. Stored credentials in the Windows Vault and Internet Explorer will also no longer be available. What’s more, this method doesn’t work in Vista and Windows 7 because the administrator account is disabled by default in Safe Mode. Only in the case that you have enabled or active the built-in admin account in Windows 7 and Vista.

2. Using Windows Password Reset Disk

Pro: Using a password reset disk to bypass the lost Windows password is the most easy and safe way for those people who forgot password. Moreover, the password reset disk can help to reset any lost password, like Windows admin password, standard user password and other user accounts password.

Cons: Whenever you reset the password with a password reset disk, you will need a password reset disk before you have lost it. However, there are lots of people who do not know how to or even don't remember to create a one.

3. Re-install Windows Operating System

Pro: By this means, you will enable to re-access to your locked PC, meanwhile you will lost all of the data and info which exists on your "former" PC in chorus.

Cons: A custom installation will replace the current version of Windows OS and all personal files. Maybe re-install PC will be the last way for you to make your locked PC survival.
