Tunisia is imbued with a special sense of exoticism and romance. But, like it or not, exoticism and romance are not necessarily the things you want when you're picking a hotel for your Tunisia trip. The first thing that crosses your mind is a pragmatic sense of 'getting it right'. And it was with that in mind that this quick roundup of a few of the best hotels in Monastir was put together.

Luxurious Monastir Hotels

The Amir Palace:
When you're talking about hotels in Tunisia, the Amir Palace is rather more towards the luxurious end of the scale. The hotel has a private beach of powdery white sand that's tailor-made for a couple of weeks' flop 'n' drop. Inside, the features are decidedly on the grand side (the decor is infused with Moorish elegance throughout) while the staff are consistently helpful.

But like almost everything else in Tunisia, what makes it stand out is the relationship between the quality and the price. A week in a similar hotel on the sunny shores of the Costa del Sol, for example, would probably cost about half as much again. (Which perhaps goes some way towards explaining the number of Spaniards who choose to make viajes Tunez - or Tunisia trips!)

Middle of the Range Accommodation in Monastir

The Ramada Liberty:
The Ramada Liberty Hotel is, regardless of price, one of the best hotels in Monastir. The rooms are large, the evening meals sumptuous, and there's an almost obsessive attention to cleanliness evident in the staff who can be seen scurrying around making sure everything's spick and span. What really makes it stand out, though, is the air of peace that hangs over the place, and almost lulls you into having a relaxing time of it.

Iberostar Sahara Beach:
And if the Ramada Liberty's good, then the Sahara Beach is, if anything, even better. For a mid-priced hotel in Monastir, it's hard to think what more you could ask for: the hotel is set in attractive grounds and there are three separate pools to bask in on baking hot Tunisian summer days. It's especially popular, meanwhile, with families on a trip to Tunisia, as a result of its excellent entertainment and activities. It's even one of the nearest of the Monastir hotels to Sousse, making a change of scene particularly easy. An excellent all-round package.

The Budget Option

Hotel Rosa Beach:
There's no ways about it, the Hotel Rosa Beach isn't just a great cheap hotel in Monastir, it's a great hotel full-stop. They do the basics right with a really friendly welcome and clean and pleasant rooms. What's more, the food is excellent, the evening entertainment surprisingly varied, and the views from the rooms out to sea, to die for - along with a couple of other touches that really elevate it above its price bracket.

And this is entirely the point: a Tunisia trip needn't cost you a fortune if you choose the right all-inclusive deal... After all, there are plenty to choose from!
