A Roundup of Pisa Hostels
Pisa may be better known for its leaning tower than as a budget travel location, but if you look into the many excellent hostels in Pisa , it can become a surprisingly affordable getaway to the independent traveler.
Nestled in the picturesque region of Tuscany, Pisa is the capital of its own Province of Pisa and rests just next to the point where the Arno River meets the Ligurian Sea.
With a history dating back to the fall or Troy, a stunning local landscape of ancient buildings and rolling Tuscan hills and a bustling nightlife, Pisa is perhaps the perfect location for an Italian adventure.
Leaning Tower
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is by far the city's best known attraction. The tower is the free-standing bell tower (or campanile) of the city's main cathedral and is one of a number of interesting sights in the beautiful Piazza del Duomo.
Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, the walled square is the perfect spot for any tourists to head to, with several reasonably-priced hostels located just a few minutes walk from the piazza.
Pisa hostels obviously come in many different guises and offer something for guests on all budgets and include everything from cheap rooms in the centre of town to luxury villas on the mountainside. Hostels in this part of Pisa include the Hotel Francesco and the Hostel Villa Primavera.
Travel Connections
Another good place to look for a hostel in Pisa is by the main bus or train station. Pisa is a relatively small city and often makes a stopping point on a wider tour of northern Italy. Staying close to transport links, therefore, can be very convenient.
Pisa Tourist House is one of the best youth hostels in Pisa for travelers planning just a short stay in the city. The hostel is just 15 minutes walk from Galileo Galilei International Airport and ten minutes from the main train station.
Learn from the Locals
As an ancient seat of learning, Pisa has a thriving student population and this means that the student area of the city is packed to the rafters with bustling bars and cheap hostels.
The University of Pisa makes up the Pisa University System alongside Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa and the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies.
As visitors would expect of any student area, the Piazza Garibaldi is full of young intellectuals and affordable eateries. One hostel to choose in this region is the Pisa Tower Hostel which is just ten minutes walk from Pisa Centrale in one direction and ten minutes from the Leaning Tower in another.
