Escape the Gloom: Three Ideas for a Winter BreakCategory: Travel & Holidays Article added by: Paul Collins
For many of us, the summer’s coming to a close. Autumn’s almost upon us and beyond that, the promise of a long, grey winter stretches away. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t escape the gloom and get away from it all with a winter break!
In many ways, winter’s the best time to take a trip: many destinations are quieter, prices are generally lower, and it just feels so rewarding to leave the cold and wet behind. Besides, who wants to leave their own country in the summer, when the weather’s at its best?
So without any further ado, here’s a quick selection of three things to do this winter:
1. Take it Easy in Tenerife
Tenerife is the winter break destination of choice for many Europeans – and it isn’t hard to see why! First of all, of course, there’s the famed Tenerife weather: it’s said to have the lowest year-round difference, and average temperatures barely dip below the mid to late teens centigrade.
But that’s really just the beginning. Toss in a range of great Tenerife golf courses, a fabulous selection of Tenerife hotels right across the island, and some great walking on and around the dramatic Mount Teide, and it’s enough to make your head spin!
2. Dodge the Crowds in Venice
Venice: there’s nowhere quite like it. And that goes for any time of year! While the weather might not always be perfect (although in truth, it can still be delightful), the absence of any real crowds more than makes up for it.
Outside of peak season, wandering its narrow streets and echoing waterways almost feels like you’ve got the most beautiful city on earth all to yourself. Find yourself a typically drop dead gorgeous hotel in Venice, and you’ve got the most romantic winter break imaginable.
3. Be Bowled Over by Buenos Aires
The most obvious way to escape the winter in the northern hemisphere is to, well, escape the northern hemisphere! There’s simply no better time to go to Argentina’s sumptuous capital, Buenos Aires, than between December and February.
Although it’s the height of summer, temperatures rarely get unbearably hot. What’s more, there’s something just so fitting about spending time in this most exotic and sensual of cities when the mercury starts to rise.
From exploring its variety of stunning old quarters, catching a big football game, eating some of the best steak in the whole world, or even learning to tango, there’s just so much to see and do in Buenos Aires. Really and truly, there’s only one thing for it: check out a few Buenos Aires apartments, find one that suits you, and sit out as much of the winter as you possibly can!
