Mastering 31 white obstacles for a professional career | On 14th March the great Snowpark Tour finals begin in Zell am See and KaprunKategorie: Travel & Holidays Veröffentlicht von: knoefler-journalist . media + communications GmbH
For eight weeks the participants of this year's 'Snowpark Tour' have been giving everything: more than 600 snowboarders and freeskiers were flocking to the ten stops of the tour in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. They all had the same goal: to qualify for the big finals in Zell am See-Kaprun. At the coming weekend the time has finally come. From 14th to 16th March, the most talented up-and-coming athletes are competing against each other on Kitzsteinhorn! The winners are rewarded with the opportunity of participating in the renowned events of the Ticket to Ride Snowboard Tour.
For the eagerly awaited highlight of the Snowpark Tour, the organizers have chosen the glacier of 3,200-metre-high Kitzsteinhorn. This is no coincidence: the venue is the 'DC Central Park', one of three new facilities of Mellow Park with its more than 30,000 square metres of boarding space. At 2,515 metres above sea level, the young international athletes can indulge in excellent snow conditions and 31 perfectly shaped obstacles. The 55 snowboarders and 20 new schoolers who have already secured their tickets for the tour's finals can enjoy the exciting rails and boxes.
The last opportunity to qualify for the event is coming up on Friday at noon. At 12 p.m. the first jam session of the weekend begins. Just like in the finals, the boarders can do as many rounds as they please in order not to be forced to rely on one single go to convince the jury. Anyone who gets thumbs up may perform again on Saturday and Sunday. The boarders will have to stand the scrutiny of Mathieu Crépel and other experts then. The 23-year-old athlete from France is one of the stars of the scene's elite and has already gained several gold medals and world titles.
All the young finalists of the 'Snowpark Tour' aspire to occupy the place where Crépel is standing today. The best precondition, of course, is winning the title in Zell am See and Kaprun. The athlete coming out on top against the competitors doesn't only receive attractive prizes, but is also rewarded with the opportunity of participating in the TTR event 'Nanshan Open 2009' in China. The best 15 female boarders will be participating in the renowned Roxy Chicken Jam, which is another major event of the Ticket to Ride Snowboard Tour staged for the third time in a row on the glacier of Kitzsteinhorn from 12th to 14th December 2008.
The Snowpark Tour is to culminate in a huge party at Kaprun Castle. On Saturday night the time-honoured building is turning into a Caribbean paradise at the big 'luau', which is the Hawaiian expression for a party after sunset. Boarders, freeskiers, and all our visitors of the tour's finals are sure to experience an exciting way of celebrating…

The holiday region of Zell am See-Kaprun with its 14,000 beds and two million overnight stays per year is one of the most important holiday destinations in Austria. The beautiful flora and fauna in the Alpine panorama and Lake Zell guarantee relaxation and well-being. Golfing, hiking, and bathing are at the focus for the summer time programme, but visitors can choose from more than 40 other activities as well. During the cold season, fun on skis and boards make sure that there is no dull moment. Skiers can comfortably reach the 136 kilometres of slopes covered with powder snow by one of the 56 lifts. Snowboarders enjoy the perfect conditions of the Snowpark on the 2,600-metre-high glacier plateau. Even in the summer you can swish down the slopes here. And family-friendliness is a top priority in Zell am See and Kaprun. For this reason, the region has already received various awards.
