Beach Hostels on a BudgetCategory: Travel & Holidays Article added by: Amanda diaz
The Best Beachside Accommodation for Cheap!
Budget travel is not normally associated with luxury and decadent indulgence. But not all backpacking has to involve sharing a tent with ten strangers several miles from the nearest toilet.
Contrary to popular belief, budget travelers can find cheap hostels in some of the world's most exclusive beach resorts without breaking the bank.
Los Angeles, USA
Home to Hollywood and all of its associated excesses, there’s no shortage of beaches and a good Los Angeles hostel or two in this vibrant East Coast city.
One such, the Los Angeles Surf City hostel on Hermosa Beach, is the perfect place to enjoy the sun, sand and sea for a shade over $20 a night. Surfing is obviously this hostel's forte and its beachfront location offers a bar, restaurant and nightclub in addition to the usual bed and breakfast.
Further up the coast however, the Venice Beach Cotel even goes as far as to offer its guests day tours of the best of Los Angeles attractions. 24-hour hot showers, a bar and lounge area also come as part of the great value $18 price of a bed for the night.
Cancun, Mexico
Cancun is Mexico's primary tourist city and is difficult to match for beaches, beauty and budget price.
Cancun hostels are widespread, and can be pretty seriously cheap on the accommodation front. The highly-regarded Mexico Hostels is one such venue, offering guests a private swimming pool and restaurant for a $9 price tag, in addition to easy access to the beach.
But with so many beach-based activities available in the city, it’s worth selecting one of the many Cancun hostels that can provide some priceless local knowledge of the best tour operators.
With this in mind, the Mayan Hostel Cancun is not only well-located, but prides itself on its helpful staff, capable of advising on the best dolphin tour or scuba company to suit tourists' budget and skill level needs.
Hawaii, USA
The 19-island archipelago of Hawaii offers sun, sand and sea in abundance. The hardest thing that the budget traveler is likely to have to endure is choosing which of the 50th State's Hawaii hostels to make their home for the duration of their stay.
One of the most popular is the Waikiki Beachside Hostel in Honolulu (on the main island of Oahu). While they pride themselves on the well-informed customer service they provide their backpackers, prices go from a fairly reasonable $22, with a few handy extras thrown in.
Another worthwhile Hawaii hostel is Hedonisia Hawaii on the ‘Big Island’. Surrounded by the lush rainforest, volcanic springs and dramatic black sand beaches of Puna, it’s a veritable tropical paradise… but with prices starting at about $17 it doesn’t cost the earth!
