Red Herring today announced alaTest.com has won the Red Herring 100 Europe award, an award given to the top 100 private technology companies based in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region each year.
"This year’s impressive list of submissions from companies demonstrates Europe’s growing role as a major center of innovation in the global technology sector,” said Red Herring Editor-in-Chief Joel Dreyfuss. "The exceptional accomplishments of European technology startups and entrepreneurs are a testament to the rapid advancements being made in building the European innovation ecosystem.”
Previous winners include companies like Google, Skype and YouTube. IT executives, investors and observers consider the Red Herring 100 lists as a very reliable instrument to evaluate and discover promising startups that will lead the next wave of innovation.
”The Red Herring Award is another proof that we are headed in the right direction and that our business model is solid”, says Arie Struik CEO and founder of alaTest™.
Red Herring’s editorial staff rigorously evaluated more than hundreds of private companies through a careful analysis of financial data and subjective criteria, including quality of management, execution of strategy, and dedication to research and development.
"Consumers are highly influenced by expert and fellow user opinions before making the actual purchase decision”, says Peter Björk, company COO and co founder. "Buyers are looking for product quality information at their fingertips whether its on the manufacturer’s website, an online shop or from a price comparison site, and that is where alaTest comes in.”
To honor the Red Herring 100 Europe companies, alaTest has been invited to present the company at the Red Herring Europe 2008 event in Malta. Scheduled for April 14-16, at the Westin Dragonara Resort, this three-day event is themed "Ahead of the Curve” and will explore how European firms are leading the charge in many technology sectors, gaining the competitive advantage, and driving entrepreneurial success in ways that create business opportunities for challengers and incumbents alike.
